Simon Hadley I and Katherine Talbot

Simon Hadley I was born in Sommerset England during the year 1640 and died in Westmeath Ireland  June 6, 1711. He was the son of Jeremiah and Jane Hadley.

Simon Hadley I, an English Army officer, was sent to Ireland where he met and married Catherine Talbot in Dublin, Ireland. Source: THE HADLEY FAMILY by Kathryn Dobbins Huggins, published by The Yadkin County Historical Society, Yadkinville, North Carolina in 1981

A history of THE DEEP CREEK HADLEYS by Thomas D. Hamm in the same publication, noted that Simon Hadley was "of County Kings, Ireland, A Quaker Landowner who married one Katherine Talbot".

Some sources say that Simon Hadley, the original ancestor of the southern branch of the Hadley family, came to Pennsylvania from Ballynakill, Ireland, have previous left England because of restrictions on worship.

It has been some written that this line goes back to the Plantagenets of England however, this may not yet have been proven. The proven lineage starts with this Simon Hadley.

Katherine's name will be found to be spelled both with a "C" or a "K" depending upon the source. Her birth date is found to be 1640 - 1650. The date of her death, June 10-20, 1710. According to information in a booklet entitled " Memoirs" by Effie Hadley Brindle, published in 1972, Catherine was descended from William the Conqueror and Alfred the Great.

The line continues with Simon Hadley II and Ruth Miller Kiernan
